Artistic Statement:
In this portrait series, *Nimbus, Fairytale, and Pescadora*, I invite the viewer into a dreamscape where the everyday meets the fantastical. Each piece is a meditation on exchange, perception, and the delicate dance between effort and reward, all set against a backdrop of whimsical symbolism.
Nimbus, embodies the *Cloud Catcher*, a figure both ethereal and grounded. She moves through the sky, netting clouds and casting them back into the world with intention. Her portrait explores the subtle reciprocity between what we capture and what we release, an ode to the notion that we only get back the magic we are willing to pursue. Her presence is serene but powerful, a reminder of how effort shapes the softness of the world.
In Fairytale, we delve into the art of *giving as good as one gets*. This portrait blurs the line between the giver and receiver, illustrating the poetic dance of karma through vibrant, surreal layers. The subject, though centered in a world of fantasy, reflects real human exchange, where the lines between cause and effect bend like a story being rewritten in real-time. This piece challenges the viewer to consider the fairytale-like balance of our actions and reactions, where what we offer returns in ways we never expect.
Pescadora beckons the viewer to take *a closer look*. In this piece, the boundaries of reflection and reality blur, as if gazing into a pool of water or the sky itself. The subject, a quiet yet knowing figure, is a fisher of hidden truths, pulling up unseen treasures from the depths. The portrait asks us to reconsider our reflections, not just as mirrors of ourselves, but as portals into something deeper. There is always more beneath the surface if we choose to look with intent.
Together, these portraits explore the complex interplay of effort, perception, and the magic that exists in every exchange. They are not just portraits of individuals but of the larger, invisible forces that shape our lives—forces as intangible as clouds, yet as constant as the reflection in a mirror. - KD
